Poems from a solitary retreat at Senge Ling

Kootenay Shambhala Centre Director Lynn Dragone recently sat a solitary retreat at Senge Ling, our Centre’s retreat land. Here are some poems from that retreat.

Karmic Fallout
Nevertheless
Pain is Pain
Workable

* * *

A Crackling Fire
burns darkness into dawn
naked trees stand
innocent and free

* * *

my sweater
folded
so tenderly
on the bed

* * *

Such futile attempts
to master a mind
that offers
no bargaining,
this simplicity
is too easily
missed

* * *

Walking Meditation
each step
taken
with care
and purpose
to the outhouse

* * *

I’m crying
space is very threatening
to hungry ghosts

* * *

slow…humility
cumulative patience
breath by breath
a foundation of trust

* * *

For The Sakyong: Remembering
your smiling face
that’s enough
to reveal
my best intentions
blessings of my life!

  1. Aaron Ander Says:

    Slowing down while enjoying poetry like this is a given

    The appreciation of an experience is always this rich benieth all the piles of heavy garbage thoughs

    Once the resonant truth reveals itself, we are forever changed
